Lanarkshire Business Celebrates 1st Birthday
Uddingston-based insurance intermediary The Green Insurance Company today celebrated its first birthday following a tremendous years trading.
Since launching one year ago, the company has grown rapidly and now has more than 12,000 motor insurance customers on its books. Originally employing a team of only 3, the company now employs 28 local people and hopes to recruit again in the near future.
Part of the unique appeal of The Green Insurance Company is its pledge to offset 100% of the carbon emissions generated by customers’ cars. As well as their birthday, the team were also celebrating having offset more than 20,000 tonnes of carbon emissions through the planting of more than 100,000 trees in locations across Scotland and the North of England.
During its birthday celebrations, Managing Director Andrew McMillan explained “Our mission is to make it easier for people to be more environmentally friendly in every day life. We wanted to create a company that’s different and for our customers and employees to feel part of something important, and I’m pleased to say that I think we’ve succeeded!?
He added, “The response from the public towards The Green Insurance Company has been fantastic and has exceeded all of my expectations. I am thrilled to have been able to expand our business at such a rapid rate, and to celebrate our achievements today with the team?.
Consultant Jennifer Morrow (Bellshill), who joined the company one year ago today explained that she felt she had found a job that was making a real difference: “Working at The Green Insurance Company has really opened my eyes to the bigger picture of the issues we all face. I’ve now changed my habits at home as a result of working here, and enjoy the friendly, team atmosphere we have.?
Jennifer added, “More and more of the customers I speak to understand our aims and feel that we really make it easy for them to do their bit. It’s exciting to work for a business that’s growing so rapidly and look forward to seeing where we can take it in the next year!?
The Green Insurance Company is fully committed to minimising its own environmental impact, through using recycled or sustainable materials, as well as investing in a fleet of hybrid company cars for all its employees.
