New Company Living Values with Green Fleet

A new motor insurance provider has been launched to drive motorists towards a greener future.

And The Green Insurance Company(TGIC) hopes to lead by example – by purchasing a fleet of eco-friendly company cars for all staff.

The 12 branded Toyota Prius electric hybrids are part of the Scottish-based company’s commitment to the environment.

The Japanese-made European Car of the Year 2005 was second in the UK Department for Transport’s Best on CO2 rankings scheme – but hybrid cars are only a part of The Green Insurance Company’s plan to live its values.

Andrew McMillan, managing director of TGIC said: “For us, going green isn’t just a fad or business opportunity.

“We really want to make a difference and that means leading by example.  TGIC are determined to show both customers and businesses that it can be easy to be green.

“Staff are encouraged to consider commuting alternatives such as public transport, cycling or car sharing.

“However if these are not viable, our new fleet of Prius’ hybrids will definitely help reduce our employees’ carbon emissions for both commuting and pleasure - what we can’t reduce, we then offset.

“This is just one part of our overall enviromental policy and as a business we are looking at every aspect of what we do.  We will never claim to be perfect but we trying our hardest.?

Setting a policy of reduce, recycle and reuse, The Green Insurance Company will off-set 100% of customers’ carbon emissions at no additional cost and has also pledged to invest five percent of its annual profits into sustainable environmental projects.

The competitive insurer also promises extra discounts for low-emission cars and people who drive less than 10,000 miles per year.

Andrew added: “You don’t need to be an eco-warrior to make a difference.
“We don’t want to patronise or preach to people, – we are providing an easy solution for people to help reduce their carbon footprint without having a major impact on their daily lifestyle.

“Through The Green Insurance Company I want to give drivers the chance to save more than just money.

“No matter where people are on the green scale, insuring with us will not save the world alone - but at least they will have made a step in the right direction.?
