Carbon offsetting
Carbon Offsetting is a great way to positively contribute to the environment. We at the Green Insurance Company proudly support several Carbon Offsetting projects in the UK.
The method of Carbon Offsetting that we currently support is the planting of trees to neutralise the harmful CO2 in the atmosphere.
How it works
The trees we plant will absorb CO2 through a process called photosynthesis, converting CO2 and water to oxygen and plant matter. The trees, in essence, breathe in CO2 through their leaves and bark, and breathe out the oxygen the world so badly needs. Therefore, the more trees we plant; the more CO2 we are offsetting.
Neutralise the impact
Our pledge as an environmentally friendly company is to neutralise all of your carbon emissions from your car each year you insure with us. We calculate how much carbon dioxide your car releases in a year and then balance this by allocating enough trees to absorb those emissions. Therefore, with each policy we sell, we are taking another step forward in our quest to help the environment.
Our offset projects
Currently we have 9 forestry projects that we are contributing to in the UK. The largest of these are Glenmark Farm, in Castle Douglas (East Ayrshire, Scotland) and Kidburngil Farm in Cumbria. Here we have planted 35,000 trees on a space of 31.75 Hectares.
Another of our main projects is based in a large agricultural area called Kidburngil Farm in Cumbria. On this 20.8 Hectare piece of land we planted 22,800 trees.
All of our projects are easily accessible to the public; why not take a look at what we've been working on?
