What can I do?

Most of us realise we need to do something to help the environment. But what can we do? Recycling at home is becoming second nature.  Why? Because our local councils have made it easy for us to do.   Here are some more really easy steps that you could take. 

• Insure with The Green Insurance Company (of course)
• Buy energy saving lightbulbs.  They last almost 10 times longer than a normal lightbulb and use only a fifth of the energy.  You can now buy them for just over £1, and they will reduce your electricity bill.
• Take used toys, clothes, household goods to charity shops or sell them at a car boot sale.  One person’s junk is another person’s treasure!
• Change your electricity to a renewable energy tariff.  You may even save money.
• Switch off your TV at night, leaving it on standby is the same as putting money down the drain.
• Buy a shopping bag for life but don’t forget it when you go shopping
• Buy loose vegetables if you can. Packaging is over used.
• If you have a garden, why not try making your own compost.  It beats trying to carry one of those heavy compost bags!

These are just a few of the things that you could do.  They won’t cost a lot of money and little by little, you are helping the environment.   So why not have a go and just see where it takes you.
