Keep motoring replacement hire car
Keep motoring would be best described as an extended courtesy car product. You may not be aware but most insurance policies only provide a courtesy car if you have comprehensive cover and only if the car is repairable.
If you purchase Keep motoring, you will receive an equivalent hire car for up to 14 days following a total loss or a theft or attempted theft claim, which results in your car being undriveable. Our standard courtesy car doesn’t cover these situations.
Even if you only have third party or third party fire & theft insurance where no courtesy car is included, you can buy Keep Motoring.
To buy Keep Motoring you must be aged between 18 and 78 and hold a full UK driving licence.
Personal accident
It's never something that we want to think about but accidents happen, particularly road accidents. What would happen if you or one of your passengers suffered a serious injury – how would you cope financially? Personal Accident cover quite simply pays out a lump sum of cash up to £30,000 for death or bodily injury caused by a road traffic accident.
Some limited cover is included with our motor policy but the table below compares the cover that you get.
| Covered | Standard Cover within our motor policy | Personal Accident |
|---|---|---|
Death |
£2,500 |
£30,000 |
Total loss of one or both hands or feet |
£1,500 |
£30,000 |
Permanent total blindness in one or both eyes |
£1,500 |
£30,000 |
Permanent total loss of hearing in one ear |
Not covered |
£7,500 |
Permanent total loss of hearing in both ears |
Not covered |
£30,000 |
If you take the Personal Accident policy, both the standard cover and the increased cover apply, for example, If you lost a foot due to an accident, you can claim £1,500 from your motor insurer and a further £30,000 from the Personal Accident cover. Giving you a total of £31,500 compensation.
You must be aged under 81 to purchase Personal Accident.
Payment protection
If you pay your insurance by instalments, then you may be interested in payment protection. It will pay your monthly insurance instalments if you are unable to work due to accident, sickness or redundancy. Please note redundancy is not covered in the first 90 days of the policy starting.
We all think it will never happen to us but how many people do you know that it has already happened to. Were they protected or did they leave it to chance? For a small amount paid monthly, you can rest easy knowing that if the worst was to happen, then you will still be able to pay for your car insurance.
To purchase Payment Protection:
- you must pay by instalments
- be aged between 18 and 63
- be in full time continuous employment for the last 6 months working more than 16 hours per week

Can I get immediate cover?
As long as you have a credit or debit card, we can issue you with immediate cover. Terms and conditions apply. If you want immediate cover please call 0845 272 7604 where one of our team will be happy to help.
Your system does not recognise the make and model of my car. What should I do?
Sometimes we are unable to identify the make and model of your car just from the registration number. When this happens, select no to the question ‘Do you know the registration number of the vehicle you would like to insure?’ and leave the registration field blank. You will then be asked to search for your car’s make and model manually. Once you have done this, the system will display a list of vehicle models. You should select the correct model of your vehicle from this list. If you are unable to find the exact car details, please call us on 0845 272 7604.
Does my policy cover me to drive abroad?
Yes, full policy cover is given for 90 days a year in the European Union. But please call us so we can check this for you or refer to your policy booklet before you travel.
Does my policy cover me to drive other cars?
Yes provided you are over 25 years old and you do NOT work in the motor trade, for example, mechanics, chauffeurs, driving instructors etc. It is shown on the final quote screen along with your premium.
Driving other cars applies to the policyholder ONLY and allows them to drive other cars but no motorcycles on Third Party cover ONLY. Further terms and conditions apply which you should refer to the policy book or contact us.
When will I receive my insurance documents?
We send all our documents by 1st class post and we try to get these to you as soon as possible. You should allow a maximum of 5 working days for any documentation to reach you. If it has not arrived after this time, please contact us.
What does No Claims Bonus mean?
No Claims Bonus represents the number of years you have held a policy without making a claim or having a claim made against you. Any No Claim Bonus that you have earned can only be used on one policy at a time.
What is an excess?
An excess is the part of a claim that you will have to pay.
Will you insure my car if it has modifications?
It depends. We don’t currently quote for modified cars online, but we may be able to give you a quote if you call us on 0845 272 7604.
Can you insure my vehicle if it has been imported?
Yes, as long as the car has been built to the UK specification and is available to buy in the UK market. If your car has been imported, please call us on 0845 272 7604 and we will check if cover can be provided.
Will I be supplied with a courtesy car while my car is being repaired?
If you have Comprehensive cover, you are entitled to a guaranteed courtesy car for the duration of repairs to your own car provided it is as a result of a claim and you have used one of our approved repairers.
I've been a named driver on someone else’s policy for a few years - does that entitle me to a no claims discount if I start my own?
You may be eligible for an introductory discount, please call for a quote on 0845 272 7604.
Can I pay by instalments?
Certainly, you can either pay by direct debit from your bank account or by our payment card plan. You will be required to pay an initial deposit usually by credit or debit card. You must be 18 or over to pay by instalments.

We can replace your Certificate of Motor Insurance for a small charge. To get a replacement certificate, just call us on 0845 272 7603.

Switching to Internet Explorer 5.5 or upwards should remedy your problems. However, if you still experience problems please call us on 0845 272 7604 and we can give you a quote over the phone.

Please contact us on 0845 272 7609 where one of our team will be happy to help.
Do you sell classic car insurance?
No, sorry we don’t sell that type of insurance. With our policy, the most that will be paid out is the market value of your car (provided the damage is covered by the policy).
Classic car insurance is a specialist policy where the value of the car is agreed before the policy starts. It’s suits older cars (usually more than 20 years old) that are driven less than 3000 miles a year.

In particular you should tell us about any motoring convictions or incidents (whether your fault or not, and whether you claimed or not).

The policies we sell are annual policies, which end one year after the start date of cover (unless cancelled before then).
